It was great to see all of you and talk about your child.  Thank you for coming in for conferences this past week.  I can’t believe there are only 10 weeks left of school!

We are just fininshing up a difficult math unit that involved order of operations, multi-step word problems, prime or composite, rules, and factor pairs.  We will be reviewing this week and testing to wrap up this unit.  When we come back from Spring Break, we will begin our next unit on measurement in math.

We began new units in reading (Nonfiction in Expository Text), writing (Persuasive Letters), science (Engery Transfer) this week!

The Lightning Thief Movie

Dear Fourth Grade Families,

Our most recent unit in reading is understanding fantasies.  The lessons we are currently discussing have followed our read-aloud, The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.  We are celebrating the end of this read-aloud by viewing The Lightning Thief movie.  This movie, however, is rated PG and in accordance with our school policies I would need to get permission from the parents to allow their child to participate.  Below is a link to the movie’s site:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814255/

A permission slip will be coming home today for you to decide if you would like your child to view the movie.  If you or your child is uncomfortable in watching the film other arrangements have been made.
Thank you,

Mr. Mathew Keller
